Bishop Clifton Knight, II
Biography


At the age of 9 Dr. Knight wrote his first song titled “Little Flowers.” The song sold and his mother received royalties for 25 years. In 1962 after graduating from high school he moved to Los Angeles where he met and married Vivian Marie. In 1964, Dr. Knight was signed by Warner Brothers and recorded 2 Gold records that are still played in foreign & domestic countries today.  

Dr. Knight is a member of the American Federation Television Radio Artist (AFTRA), American Guild Variety Artist (AGVA), and Broadcast Music Incorporation (BMI). He is also a composer, songwriter, and a Radio/Television producer. He organized the Precious Moments Television Ministries for Cable Television.  
In 1970 Dr. Knight was reclaimed and joined St. John Church of God in Christ. He was called to the ministry in 1971 and was ordained as an Elder in June, 1975, by the late Bishop Samuel M. Crouch. He founded New Testament Church of God in Christ where he is pastor and Mother Vivian Knight is the first lady. He also became the Superintendent of the 4th District of the Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction; Bishop B. R. Benbow is prelate.  

He served as the South Los Angeles Regional YPWW President (40 churches) for several years and received an award for outstanding work from Dr. J. W. Mayfield. He served as a pastor in the Metropolitan Jurisdiction. In January, 1990, Pastor Knight was led to the Southwest Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction where he assisted Supt. Arthur Givhan in the First District. Bishop B. R. Benbow saw great leadership abilities in Pastor Knight and appointed him to the following: Assistant Executive Secretary 1991; Superintendent of the Fourth District, 1992; Budget Director, 1994; and Financial Chairman in 2000. he also Served as Vice President of the Ordination Board.  

Dr. Knight earned a Bachelor in Biblical Counseling, a Masters in Christian Education and a Doctorate of Theology. In addition, he received a Professor Certificate from the Ministerial Training Institute of Inglewood, California. After 35 years as a county employee, he retired working as Departmental Personnel Assistant Supervisor for Los Angeles Country Department of Social Services. 

Dr. Clifton Knight was presented to the General Assembly as he had been asked to lead a group which includes some 124 churches in Malaysia, India, Singapore and Indonesia. He stated there are two great works; 74 from Asia and 50 from Los Angeles, California. Dr. Knight introduced to the congregation Dr. Reverend Govin Satia Seelan from India who baptized some 38,000 Hindu converts. He expressed himself indicating he had been in the ministry for Jesus Christ 24 years and his concern is to see more of his people saved.

Dr. Knight introduced the President of the Worldwide Gospel Tracts, Brother Thomas Schultz. Brother Schultz has printed tracts in 16 different languages with 30 nations receiving those tracts. Brother Schultz tendered greetings and his concern is to work for souls. His ministries supplies free gospel tracts to third world people groups and he wished to work with Dr. Knight and come into The Church of god In Christ. Bishop Owens stated that the General Board is now working with this group as they want to be associated with people of color and they are coming to The Church of God In Christ.
